There are lots of ways to acquire insurance leads—including using social networking sites to make contact with new customers. But to get a guaranteed number of leads every month, the best thing to do is buy them from a company that offers competitively priced, fresh leads from willing customers.
Once you decide that you want to buy leads for your agency, you’re going to have to make a few decisions about the quantity you buy and the type of customer you’re looking for.
Here are some practices that will get you the best results, based on our years of experience cultivating, acquiring and selling leads:
Buy enough. A mistake many insurance agents make when they decide to buy leads is to only buy a few to try them out. Frankly, that won’t work.
You have to buy enough leads to be able to contact a good number of potential customers so that you can keep bringing new business into your agency. The number will vary depending on the size of the agency you run, but some of our most successful clients buy 10 a day—and our experts recommend 10 leads a day per producer for larger agencies.
Don’t restrict yourself. When you buy leads, you have the option of setting filters so that the leads you receive come from a specific geographic area and your customers meet certain demographic criteria.
It’s tempting to set very strict filters for yourself—maybe just your city or only people who earn a certain amount of money each year—but that’s not the best move. You want to set very limited filters, for two main reasons: 1) To ensure that you get enough leads to make your effort worthwhile. 2) So you can get a good idea of where your efforts are best focused.
You could, for instance, start out by buying insurance leads from everyone in your state over age 25. After some time, you can check to see what areas and groups of people are bringing you the best return on your investment.
You might be surprised what you find out. You could find that your best customers come from an area you weren’t even planning to look at.
