Two brothers who made £995,915 in one of the biggest ever “crash for cash” car insurance scams have been jailed.
Rezwan Javed, 34, and his older brother Rehan, 36, who organised fraudulent claims after bogus road accidents caused by other members of a crime group were sentenced to six and five years at Minshull Street crown court, Manchester.
They ran a company which took a cut of solicitors’ referral fees, courtesy car hire and the cost of storage and recovery.
In October 2008, another member of the gang, Mohammed Patel, was jailed after admitting being the driver in more than 90 collisions.
