I think most people would jump at the chance and work on losing weight for a free year of health insurance. It did happen for one man. According to triblocal.com Jeff Dudson “lost 50 pounds in 15 weeks and won the top prize among about 70 co-workers who participated in an office-wide weight loss challenge at Adventist Midwest Health this spring. Dudson picked up his winnings when the biggest ‘losers’ of the contest last month were announced: a year of free health insurance.”

Nearly two dozen states are in support of a challenge to the health care reform law presented by Missouri Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder. The states all believe the law, passed in March 2010, is unconstitutional because it requires people to purchase health insurance.

States Ask for Appeal to Previous Lawsuit

Shortly after health care reform was signed into law, Missouri began to fight what it believed was the unconstitutionality of requiring a person to purchase health insurance. In May 2010, the Missouri House of Representatives allowed residents and employers vote on their right to decline coverage.

Auto manufacturer General Motors announced this week that it will be starting a pilot program that offers car buyers one year of free auto insurance. Currently, the new incentive program, offered through MetLife Auto and Home, will only be provided to customers in the Pacific Northwest.

Customers Must Purchase New Model-Year Vehicles

In its announcement, General Motors stated customers who purchase a new 2010, 2011 or 2012 model-year vehicle from one of its dealers in Oregon and Washington will also receive a yearlong insurance policy from the manufacturer.

According to MetLife, the policy will cover the vehicle and anyone who drives it with the owner’s permission, starting on the date of purchase. The insurance will last for an entire year as long as the buyer still owns the car during that time.

How much do people expect to get for car accident compensation; $10,000, maybe $20,000 for a big crash? What about half a million pounds? Well that’s how much a Suffolk women is trying to claim for her accident.

Margaret Smith, aged fifty seven, was the passenger in a serious road traffic accident involving the car she was in; a Citroen Saxo being driven by her sister, and a Porsche 944. The Porsche was swerving all over both sides of the road, eventually colliding with the Saxo head on.

Both Mrs. Smith and her sister Jane suffered serve injuries, however Mrs. Smith sister was rushed into hospital, but later died due to her injuries. Mrs. Smith survived, but was brain damaged due to the crash and is no longer able to cope on her own. She heavily relies on her son Colin to help her with her day-to-day activities as she has problems with her eyesight, and an increased risk of developing epilepsy.
